Iris Dina Gunnarsdottir

Iris Dina is a conceptual artist, maker and ceramist living and working in Essex.

Iris' conceptual art explores concepts of equality from within a feminist framework by interviewing people in her community. This type of work is visualised and performed through video installations, photography and drawing.

Iris Dina Gunnarsdottir is a ceramicist based in Essex who draws inspiration from her mixed heritage; Greenland, Iceland and Denmark. Iris makes use of locally sourced materials, like clay, wood and wood ash to add depth to her hand thrown pieces. Her latest pieces have clay slip sourced from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland - a place she is deeply connected to through family roots. It is important to Iris that there is a minimum of waste and a focus on natural resources. She strives to make objects for the home with a sustainable approach and an aesthetically pleasing simplicity.
